If you are looking for a good place to spend your Saturday night in Columbus, check out Quality, a chic dance party concluding Gallery Hop each first Saturday of the month. Started in 2004 by a group of DJs with similar tastes in underground and deep dance music, Quality has seen many homes and tomorrow will be its eleventh time at Basil in the Short North. Resident DJs Jeff Pons and Jason “Lemon” Lyman skillfully deliver a healthy dose of deep house, techno, and even some disco and downtempo.
Here’s a live recording from April’s event:
This is one of the few successful underground house nights in Columbus. With proper sound, a pumping dance-floor, reasonably priced drinks, and a quite friendly and mature crowd, there’s little going against it. Plus it’s a great way to escape the Arena District status quo of fresh college kids and music you hear on the top hits radio.
DJs Jeff Pons and Jason “Lemon” Lyman return to Basil in October for our 11th installment to bring you the best in seductive downtempo grooves, techno, and deep house music. End your Gallery Hop evening in good company.
For more information, peek at the event page on Facebook and hopefully I’ll see you there!
Can’t wait until tomorrow to hear more of this music? Here are two sets from Jeff Pons and Jason Lyman respectively:
